I was recently sent two polishes to review from a new to me brand, Maggie Anne. I love trying new brands so couldn't wait to use them and I wasn't disappointed at all.
Maggie Anne polish is "Six toxin free gel effect nail polish" that is handmade here in England. I think the fact that it's 6-free is an excellent selling point as people are becoming more and more conscious of the chemicals found in most nail polishes, and 3 and 5-free polishes are becoming more sought after.
I was sent 2 lovely festive colours to try so lets get onto the swatches.
First up is Susie.
This swatch shows 2 coats with top coat and the formula was absolutely fantastic! It applied so smoothly and glided onto the nail with no dragging. The polish is also really pigmented so if you have smaller nails and used a thicker coat it would easily cover in one coat. It dried with a lovely glossy finish and I'd agree with the claim that it has a gel like finish.
Next up is Carmela.
Again, this swatch shows 2 coats with top coat, and again, the formula was incredible. I often find that some shimmery golds like this can be quite sheer but this wasn't the case at all. This covered with 1 coat but I gave it 2 to keep the swatches consistent and because it deepened the colour up slightly. This is by far the nicest gold polish I own and everyone needs a good gold like this in their collection.
As it's nearly Christmas I thought that it would be rude not to do some Christmas nail art with these pretty festive colours.
I added some simple candy canes to Susie using MoYou London Festive 03 and MoYou London White Knight stamping polish.
This is a mani I do most years but I love how it looks over the gold. For this I also used Festive 03 and White Knight stamping polish. I coloured in the little berries using Susie.
Overall, I am really impressed with these lovely polishes. Not only is the formula and finish fantastic but the packaging is lovely too. The bottles are square which is a lovely classy bottle shape, and they come with removable lids and in individual boxes.
I do have to touch upon the price as these aren't cheap at £10.50 each. The price did make me quite dubious straight away, but after trying them I would say that they are worth the money as I would put them up there with the likes of OPI & Nails Inc.
